Fancy Nancy’s Favorite Fancy Words Book Review

Fancy Nancy’s Favorite Fancy Words: From Accessories to Zany
by Jane O’Conner

Fancy Words equal a  scintillating vocabulary. As a teacher, when I spot appealing books that also are teaching tools, I’m hooked! There is one word for each letter of the alphabet.

What I love about this book is the appropriateness for a broad range of ages. My 3 year old grand-daughter is learning how to use many of these colorful words as well as students in third grade. The illustrations capture a child’s imagination and aptly illustrate the meaning of the words.

I love what this reviewer (Julie Neal) wrote on Amazon: “Instead of a story, this charming Fancy Nancy book is an A-to-Z list of expressive words sure to expand your child’s vocabulary. Don’t be surprised if you hear your little girl tell you she yearns for a gorgeous — not understated — wardrobe, complete with accessories such as a lavender boa, a glamorous tiara and a monogrammed parasol. That one sentence includes 11 of the fancy words in this hardback.”

I have nothing but praise for all of Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser’s Fancy Nancy books. Enjoy!
